Information for prisons

The PRA provides support, guidance and expertise to existing prison radio stations and radio training facilities and advises prisons interested in setting up their own projects.

The PRA has negotiated preferential rates for prisons interested in purchasing studio and play-out systems. Additionally it can advise prisons on:

  • where to source equipment and how to build a studio
  • appropriate training courses
  • recruitment of specialist tutors
  • broadcasting (including licences, rights and obligations)

Licensing

Information regarding the purchase of licenses for broadcast is kept here. Please refer to the Licensing Guidelines document for basic information regarding which licenses your prison will need to purchase in order to broadcast.
